Loretta Mae Gisclair Jambon, age 81, died peacefully at her home in Lockport, Louisiana, on June 29, 2024.
Loretta was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, and friend. A native of Galliano, Louisiana, she was a homemaker who worked various jobs throughout her life, including beautician, insurance office manager, and real estate broker. Loretta, the epitome of a Cajun cook, loved cooking, loved eating, loved talking about food, and excelled at the art of preparing a meal that nourished the body and spirit. Her big heart and big voice were experienced in how she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sharing laughs and memories, dancing and singing, and playing cards and games, especially if she won. Loretta was of the most generous spirit and supported many community organizations and charitable causes, including organizing events and French classes. She loved speaking her native French language and welcoming French-speaking tourists to Louisiana. Loretta was a woman of lifelong faith and a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Her Catholic faith and prayer life gave her great comfort and inspired her to a life of service and compassion, including working with the youth of her church, and being a part of mission trips.
