Loretta Lambert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.P. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel - Kenbridge on Aug. 9, 2024.
Loretta Lee Lambert, 91, of Bracey, VA, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, at Regional Memorial Hospital in Richmond, VA. She was born on April 6, 1933 in Bracey, VA, to Willie and Mary Gordon, who instilled in her the values of family and religion. Baptized at a young age, she served God at Roanoke Zion RZUA Church and continued her service at Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Loretta attended Mecklenburg County public schools and went on to work at Bassett Furniture Company, in Victoria, VA. She also provided care to others for many years at a nursing facility and was a staple at Mildred's Meals both in Kenbridge, VA.
Beyond Loretta's work accomplishments, she had a passion for sewing, fishing, cooking, spending time with her family, and always ready to help be of service to her church community. She was a devoted member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, serving as an usher, singing in the choir, a member of the Deaconess Board, and always volunteered her cooking talents to the Food Committee. Her fried chicken, famous potato salad, and sweet potato pies were often requested and loved at family, community, and church functions.
Family was the cornerstone of Loretta's life. She was a devoted spouse to James Richard Lambert for 52 years prior to his death and a loving mother to Bessie Jean Boyd (Frank-deceased; Richmond, VA), Joyce Ann Lambert (Richmond, VA), Lillie Lacks (Harvey; Richmond, VA), Mary Patty Barnett (Jonesboro, GA), Louise Reese (Marvin; Kenbridge, VA) and *adopted daughter Shannon Lambert (granddaughter: Kenbridge, VA). Three of her children - Annie Sue Hopson (Reginald), Sylvia Lambert, and James Alexander Lambert (Michelle) welcomed her through Heaven's gates.
Her siblings who all proceeded her in death - William Gordon, Phillip Gordon, Jack Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Roscoe Bennett, Jim Gordon, Melinda Cannon, Theadoisa Kizzle, Gilda Gordon, and Hilda Gordon.
Her legacy lives on in her 13 grandchildren, Teresa Swinson-Tyler (Greg), Jonathan Lambert, Franklin Boyd, Mark Hopson, Lisa Lacks, Larcenia Walter, Kevin Lacks, Keshia Carter, Shawnee Lambert, Kirk Boyd (Shameka), Danisha Lambert, Alicia Lambert, and Vincent Hopson (deceased); 27 great grand children and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She also leaves a host of loving nieces and nephews, special family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Loretta will be remembered for her energetic spirit, kindness, generosity, beautiful smile, unwavering faith, and amazing cooking. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth and compassion. She leaves behind an enduring presence of love and strength, and will be deeply
missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service to celebrate Loretta Lambert's life will be held on August 17, 2024, at 1pm at Flat Rock Baptist Church. 2993 Brickland Rd, Kenbridge,
VA 23944.
