Loretta Lutman, age 80, died peacefully at home on Monday after a 10-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to Charles and Bernadette Heffner, who preceded her in death.

Loretta graduated as an LPN from the University of Missouri in 1962. She married George in 1963 and they began their incredible 62-year marriage.

Known as the Butterfly Lady, Loretta had a love for all things nature. She had a special passion for her enchanted garden, where she loved releasing the butterflies she so tenderly raised.

She is survived by her beloved husband, George; children Denis Lutman (Sarah), Greta Lutman (David), Alice Lutman (her dog Bingo) identical twins Ingrid Beckman (Jerry) and Bridget Mullane (Timmy); brothers Tom Heffner, Joe Heffner, and Chris Heffner; and sisters Lois Bryan and Latricia Vaughn.

Celebration of life: Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Asheboro, NC, 12 PM Friday, June 7th, to be followed by a reception and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall
