Loretta Louise Misich, 97, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Loretta was born on April 6, 1926, in Dowagiac, MI to the late Lloyd Keesler and Leta (Playford) Keesler.
Along with her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen M. Misich; sister, Jeannette Allen; brother, Jerry Keesler and son-in-law, Dave Collins.
Left to cherish the memory of Loretta are her children, Sharon Collins and Judy Shaffer; grandchildren Kelly (Brian) Seabolt, Karen (Ryan) Smoots, Brandon (Sharra) Jackson, and Lori (Jason) Whitmyer; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Keesler, and sister, Mary Lou Toy.
Loretta worked for Old Kent Bank for over 25 years. After retirement she spent time with her husband and family and would never miss a party, holiday or gathering. Loretta enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping, bingo, craft shows and much more. Loretta had a green thumb and always enjoyed her beautiful indoor plants. Loretta was known for her amazing talent with knitting and crocheting, making Christening gowns for infants around the country as well as beautiful blankets for friends and family. Loretta was also famous for her Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake. This cake was requested at every Holiday and special events. Loretta could make this cake from memory and was always delicious.
Loretta was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was always witty, always asking about all the kids and their activities and quick to crack a joke. She and her husband Steve loved to visit family and friends and enjoyed many years showing off their award-winning custom Chevrolet van at car shows. They also enjoyed many rides on their Harley-Davidson and met several life-long friends on their adventures on both the Harley and van.
After the death of her husband Steve, Loretta lived in Dowagiac the remainder of 20 years independently. She was strong and determined to live her best life for the rest of her days and we all thank the many wonderful neighbors that helped care for and watch over her. With the help and care she received from loved ones and family; she was able to live independently until the age of 97, and only needing 24-hour care for the last 3 days of her life. If that's not an accomplishment, what is?
Loretta will be missed dearly by so many.
