Loretta Orr Obituary
January 21, 1934 - October 16, 2025
Bellingham, Washington - Loretta M. Orr, matriarch of the Orr family and a cherished member of the community, passed 16 October 2025.
Born in Sunnyside, Washington, in 1934, she was raised on a small farm in the Yakima valley. Her depression era upbringing was the cornerstone to her love of family and a lifelong commitment to caring and perseverance. Loretta attended one year of college at Central Washington University where she met Gary W. Orr and they married in 1953.
Loretta followed Gary to Air Force assignments across Texas, Georgia, South Dakota, Montana, and the British overseas territory of Bermuda.
Loretta settled in Bellingham in 1969 and raised three children while working full time as a bookkeeper for Larson Gross. She retired from Larson Gross but continued working and keeping the accounts for Pacific Concrete Inc.
After the passing of Gary in 2016, Loretta remained in Bellingham, close to her children. She remained passionate about her philanthropy and her children until the day she passed. Loretta was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Gary W. Orr in 2016. She is survived by her three children: Shannon L. Orr, Crystal Orr Henderson and her husband Michael, and son LTC Stannus Perry Orr, USA, ret. and his wife Amber.
A small reception will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 2 pm at 2465 Lakeway Drive, Bellingham, Washington 98229.
You can honor Loretta by continuing charitable contributions to the following organizations: Heifer International, Whatcom County food bank, the Bellingham YWCA, and the Bellingham Senior Center.

Loretta (Aunt Retta) was the last of my aunts and uncles to pass. She was wonderful at corresponding. I remember visiting them when Gary was still alive. Peace on her memory.

I grew up next door to the Orr family. Loretta became a very important part of my mother´s life as they both lost their husbands and lived alone. The many magazines shared between Loretta and my mother and the yearly Christmas Amarillo. Even after my own mother´s passing, an Amarillo always arrived at Christmas for Loretta, with the message of thanks for being a great neighbor. My thoughts are with Shannon, Crystal and Perry.
