LORI DEANE HERSETH NEE HOLDEN
Lori Deane Herseth, nee Holden, 63, of Kabetogama, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Lori was born in Emo, Ontario to William Stanley Holden and Donalda LaBelle on October 16th, 1961. In her very early years, she grew up on Lake Kakagi, Ontario, and her family ran a tourist camp on Cameron Lake, near Nestor Falls, Ontario. From an early age, she loved living on the lake, and this theme carried through her life up until her passing.
After leaving Nestor Falls, she moved with family to Fort Frances, Ontario, where she earned a degree from Confederation College. In her early career, she worked in real estate at Century 21, and then as an executive assistant for CFOB Broadcasting; the local radio station. During this time, she had two children from her first marriage, Donny and Jamee. In 1992, Lori met the love of her life, Lee Herseth. They married in 1993 and moved her family to Lake Kabetogama, where she and Lee ran Herseth's Tomahawk resort.
At the resort, Lori loved gardening and planting a wide variety of plants and flowers, which brought her tremendous joy. She also loved decorating, and watching home & garden shows, which gave her many creative ideas for decorating the cabins and the resort. Her family remembers fondly her decorations and beautiful flowers, which are, and always will be, referred to as "momma's pretties."
While living in Kabetogama, Lori was blessed with a third child, Cortney. Even though Lori had a great affinity for decorating, her true passion was her family, and being a mother to Donny, Jamee and Cortney, and a grandmother to Alejandro and Leonardo.
She is predeceased in death by her mother, Donalda Holden of Fort Frances; her father, William Stanley Holden; her sister, Judith (Richard) Dubuc of Devlin, Ontario.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Herseth; son, Donald Cameron (Ray Roger), and daughters Jamee (Cristella) Cameron and Cortney Herseth; and her grandchildren, Alejandro and Leonardo Cameron. She is also survived by her sister Nioma Holden of Fort Frances; brothers Gary (Judy) Holden and Wayne a.k.a Bucky (Deborah) Holden of Nestor Falls; sisters, Teralyn (Sylvio) DeDona of Nestor Falls; and Valerie a.k.a Bunny Shelton of Payson, Utah as well as many nieces and nephews. Lori was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10th at 1:00pm at the Kabetogama United Methodist Church, 9853 Gamma Rd County 122, Kabetogama, MN. After the service, there will be a gathering at the Kabetogama Town Hall, 9707 Gamma Rd, Kabetogama, MN.
