Lori Lomholt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ewing Funeral Home - Britt on Nov. 3, 2025.

Lori J. (Drabek) Lomholt, 65, of Britt, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 335 First Avenue Southeast in Britt. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street West in Britt with a Scriptural Wake service beginning at 6:30 PM.

Born June 14, 1960, in Britt to Raymond and Irene "Polly" (Nelson) Drabek, Lori grew up in a close-knit family of six siblings and carried the small-town values of hard work, faith, and quiet strength throughout her life.

For the past 20 years, Lori worked at the Britt Food Center, where she was known for her unmatched dedication and her incredible cooking and baking. Her potato salad was famous around town, her chocolate chip cookies were legendary with her grandkids, and her work ethic set a standard for everyone who knew her. She believed that most things in life could be accomplished through effort and willpower-and she lived that belief every day.

A member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, Lori's faith sustained her through the challenges of recent years. Despite numerous surgeries and difficult recoveries, she refused to give up-riding over 20 miles a day on her exercise bike and inspiring everyone around her with her perseverance.

More than anything, Lori was a devoted mom and grandma. She poured her heart into her family. She is survived by her children, Cody (Sarah) Lomholt of Ida Grove and Eve (Chris) Carr of Britt; and by her grandchildren Addison, McKenzie, and Weston Lomholt (children of Cody and Sarah) and Isaac Lomholt and Elijah Carr (children of Eve and Chris). They will forever carry her strength, humor, and love in their hearts.

Lori is also survived by her longtime partner, Rick Nicholson of Plymouth; her siblings Shari Frank of Woden and Linda Drabek, Larry Drabek, and Paul Drabek, all of Britt; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Polly Drabek; her former husband, Leroy "Dave" Lomholt; and her siblings Connie and Randy.

Lori's family takes comfort knowing she is free from pain and reunited with those who went before her. Though her passing leaves a hole that can never be filled, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, resilience, and unconditional love.
