Lori Jean Mattus

On September 17, 2023, our angel, our love, and our mother, Lori Mattus, lost her 3-year battle with Vascular Dementia. Lori went peacefully at her home in Springville, UT with her husband Ken while her family was by her side. Her and her husband moved to Utah just 1 year and 2 months previous to be closer with and enjoy their grandchildren. Our mother was a constant source of light, love, support, guidance and a pure example of a wholesome heart wanting only the best for all those who had the pleasure to know her. We value the lessons of life she taught us from cooking, unconditional love for others, success comes from mistakes, and that family supports others.
Lori was born on February 12, 1959 in Escondido, CA and graduated from Serra High School in San Diego in 1977. Later she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Mattus (a US Navy Veteran), on June 17, 1979. Together, Lori and her husband had 3 children and created many amazing adventures together diving for abalone, teaching diving, fishing, exploring the beaches of southern California, camping, gazing at the stars, gardening, creating and painting ceramics, sewing and crocheting projects for her children and grandchildren and so much more. She was extremely dedicated to the lives of her children and volunteered in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Little League, church services, and supporting Madison high school's choir and drama programs.There was nothing she wouldn't do for her children and grandchildren. That love was extended beyond to anyone else who befriended Lori.
Lori is survived by her husband Kenneth Mattus; her children Jessica Sitton (Josh) and their children James, Caranean and Jackson; Kyle Mattus (Vanja); Cynthia Roberts (Dustin) and their children Ethan, Isaac and Nora; father Larry Olson, her sister Debbie Atkins (Ronnie), her brothers Stan Olson, Gary Olson (Linda), Gene Olson, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death and welcomed into the arms of her mother Joanne Olson and aunts Alice Wahl and Doris Beckham, and many more grandparents and relatives.
A private family viewing will take place on Monday September 25th at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on September 28th at 9:30am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 610 W 300 S Provo, UT 84601 followed by laying her to rest at Veterans Memorial Park at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, UT.
