Laura Ann Meza

August 4, 1969 – August 27, 2025

Laura Ann Mahaffey-affectionately known as "Lori"-was born on August 4, 1969, in Travis County, Austin, Texas, to the late James and Nancy Carole Rose Mahaffey. She grew up in Sealy, Texas, where she graduated from Sealy High School in 1988.

Lori was a devoted member of Christian City Church in Sealy, Texas where her faith and fellowship were central to her life until her health began to decline. On April 12, 2010, she married Leonardo Meza, forming a loving blended family and embracing her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother with unwavering dedication.

Known for her generous heart, Lori never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her home was a place of comfort, care, and kindness. She found joy in the simple things-caring for her family, cooking meals with love, and sharing quiet moments with puzzle books, needlepoint, and Bible study. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel with her family to Mexico and other cities, and she cherished the freedom of horseback riding.

Lori faced life's challenges with courage, resilience, and a remarkable ability to find humor and light even in the darkest times. Her strength and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy Rose Mahaffey; her brother, Larry Joe Mahaffey; two nephews, Darrion Mahaffey and Raul Esquivel; and her niece, Dahnetta Mahaffey.

Lori leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her husband, Leonardo Meza; daughters, Mercedes and Mariha Meza; grandchildren, Katalia, Lilyana, Sammy, Serigo, Arriaga, and Grace Johnson , one grandbaby soon to arrive; sons-in-law, Serigo Arriaga and Kaleb Johnson; brother, Jimmy Mahaffey; sister, Lesie Battles; nieces, Alyssa Mahaffey ; nephew, Bryce Mahaffey; and many beloved cousins including Sissy (Danny Machala) Tacker, Shirley (Charles) Wright, Julia Wright, Temipe and Tristan Tacker, Megan Rhodes, Garret Woods, and a host of extended family and friends.

Lori's warmth, loyalty, and faith-filled spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Though Lori's earthly journey has ended, her love lives on in the hearts of those she held dear. May we honor her by living with the same compassion, courage, and joy she so freely gave.
