Lori Rappleye Obituary

Rappleye, Lori Elizabeth 9/11/1957 - 2/10/2023 Lori Morano Rappleye, 65, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023, after a battle with kidney cancer. Lori was born in Jackson, MI on September 11, 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Paula Morano of Jackson, MI. Lori was a lifelong resident of Jackson. She graduated from Parkside High School in 1975, and later earned a B.S. from Michigan State University. She married John Forbes Rappleye in 1985. Her career included Michigan International Speedway, and she owned and operated La Morano's Pizzeria and Delicatessen. Lori had a creative passion for gardening, cooking, sewing, jewelry design, and interior decorating. She loved to travel, her dogs, being in her pool, and swimming at the lake with family and friends. But Lori's greatest loves were her sons Patrick and Zach. Lori was a natural caretaker. Over her lifetime she cared for many. She was truly an extraordinary friend to those fortunate to have known her. Lori loved all her family and friends. Many would say her life could be described as organized chaos; she always had multiple projects going on at once! Her laugh and big hugs were unforgettable. Her bond between friends was strong, loving, always forgiving, and ever grateful. She would steer her focus to the light side of things and convey the same to others. Lori's own light shined brightly as if to illuminate others' paths. She was divinely guided in her heart and soul. Lori is survived by her husband, John F. Rappleye, Jackson, MI; children Patrick (Kailee), Chicago, IL, and Zachary, Horton, MI; brother Gregory Morano (Denise Schultz), and her sisters Karen Redford (John), Kathryn Weber (Keith), Sandra Southworth (Edward), Martha Gschwend (Ralf) and Elise Oster (Bruce); and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Jackson, Michigan, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 10:00am. The family will receive friends at the Church before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lori's memory can be sent to the Hanover-Horton High School Library, 1000 Moscow Road, Horton MI 49246.

Upon finishing a project I realized my guys had disappeared before everything was picked up, When I found them Lori had put them to work. One was hauling brush and the other was pulling weeds from her Flower garden. I'll miss Her sense of humor, and her laugh.

Dear John, Zach and Pat,

My deepest condolences on the passing of your dear Lori. She was a force in everything she ever attempted, and had more talent in her little finger than most. Days at the pool were filled with fun and LaLa always made sure everyone around her was happy. My own family enjoyed her Rum Cakes every Christmas! Sending love and big hugs to her family.

I remember Lori from her days of owning the deli in the Summit Oaks Mall. Best Rum Bundt Cake and Tuna Salad sandwiches ever. She was a gracious hostess. I was very sad when she closed.

Deepest sympathy to Lori´s family. I will never forget her friendship, love of having fun, and the kindness and joy she gave my son max when she foolishly had a summer camp for a few kids in her home!!! Wow ! She genuinely cared about others especially her family and those handsome sons. She is an irreplaceable icon and will be missed like fury .
