Lori Weiss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Ocala on Mar. 13, 2026.
Lori Jean Weiss, age 68, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 22, 1957, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Earl Francis Williams and Vaughndelee Williams (Carpenter).

Lori is survived by her beloved husband, Eugene "Gene" Weiss, the love of her life and constant companion. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. She is also survived by her children: Mandy Glenn (Gerald), Traci Mengarelli, whose husband Kevin Mengarelli recently preceded Lori in passing, Shannon Weiss, and Teairra Debs (Daniel). Lori was preceded in death by her infant son, Ricky Weiss.

She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Kyle Land, Brooke Weiss, Jessica Land, Brady Hutchinson, Rilee Weiss, Bailee Dorsey, Bree Dorsey, Tristan Valentin, and Sylah Debs. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Brianna Rodriguez, Tay Stanley, Jasey Tarlton, Taliyah Stanley, Zoey Tarlton, Ta'Miya Stanley, and Kailo Weiss, all of whom brought her immense joy.Lori is also survived by her siblings Vaughndelee "Vonnie" Chabot (John), Earl Williams, and Robert "Bobby" DiZinno (Lisa).

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Linda Yanavich. Lori deeply treasured her relationships with her siblings and extended family in Connecticut, making yearly trips north to visit them and often speaking about how much she loved and missed them.

A devoted homemaker, Lori dedicated her life to caring for her family. Her home was always full of warmth, laughter, and love. She was known as the heart of the family-the one who made sure everyone was fed, cared for, and never left without a hug, a piece of candy, or a full stomach.

Lori had a vibrant personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was stubborn in the most endearing way, incredibly loving, and absolutely hilarious. Her quick wit and sense of humor could light up any room. She loved watching game shows, playing Yahtzee with family, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and sitting outside enjoying the beauty of nature.

A passionate sports fan, Lori faithfully cheered on the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and Dallas Cowboys. She also had quite the sweet tooth and was well known for keeping candy on hand for anyone who stopped by, especially her favorite-JujyFruits.

Most days, you could find Lori in her favorite spot on the couch or sitting outside in her chair with a baby in her lap and a cup of coffee within arm's reach. She adored babies and loved caring for them just as much as she loved her coffee. She had a way of making everyone feel safe, loved, and at home.

Lori was deeply rooted in her faith and was heavily involved in First Baptist Church of Ocklawaha, Florida, where her husband Gene serves as pastor. As a pastor's wife, she faithfully supported her church and congregation with kindness, compassion, and quiet strength.

She was known for her affectionate nicknames and sayings. Lori lovingly called her daughters "chica," and whenever someone left her home, she would smile and say, "Ciao, Bella!" She was always checking in with family, often sending a simple text asking, "Whatcha doin?"-a small message that meant the world to those who received it.

Lori loved her husband Gene more than anything in this world. She often said she couldn't sleep unless he was in the same room with her. He was her safe place, her protector, and her partner in everything. Their love was a beautiful example of devotion and faith.

Though Lori's passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

At Lori's request, a private celebration of life will be held with immediate family and close friends to honor and remember the beautiful life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy a cup of coffee and a box of JujyFruits in honor of two of Lori's favorite things, and take a moment to think of her.
