Lorilee Marguerite Barth, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away on 5/4/2025 at the age of 97. Lorilee was born to Henry and Elva Barth in Campbell, MN on March 25, 1928. She attended school at Comstock, MN, graduating in 1945. She was living at Farmstead Care at the time of her death under the care of Hospice of RRV.
After school Lorilee worked at Cass Clay and then NW Bell. She met her soul mate, Charles (Chuck) Petermann, the summer of 1946 at the DL Pavilion. She married Chuck on September 4, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. They settled in rural Hawley where Chuck was a farmer. She says he made her quit work once they married. They lived on the farm until 1999, at which time they built and moved into Hawley. They welcomed 4 children into that family, Peggy, Nancy, Randy and Vicki.
Lorilee had an interest in a variety of hobbies which included puzzles, playing cards, crafts of any kind, and ceramics. She was very active in Hawley Lutheran Church contributing to the Bake Sales and Craft Sales raising money for many worthy causes over the years. Her ceramics can be found in many of her children and grandchildren’s homes to this day. She could also spend hours playing Bingo, and she always enjoyed a good trip to the casino!
In later years, she and Chuck traveled to China with their daughter Nancy, the flight attendant. Many treasures were purchased during these trips. They also spent time in Florida and Arizona visiting relatives on both sides of the family. In the 1980’s they purchased a motor home and for several years used this to travel and take in the scenery across America.
She enjoyed baking and there was always some wonderful baked item on the counter or frozen to thaw should one stop by for coffee. We all often remember the smell of the fresh baked breads and buns on the days that she would bake for the hired hands and family on the farm. She canned often, butchered chickens and had fresh beef on hand to make the great meals often shared.
She cherished her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, the most recent addition just this past February. Stay overs and babysitting visits are great memories for all of them. Watching them grow, there was rarely a missed birthday card or call to remember them. More recently, not so much, but she often still remembered many of those dates and times.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, son Randy, daughter Nancy and granddaughter Shawn Ann. She is survived by her sister Beverly (Don) Buth and brother Gerald (Marge) Barth, as well as daughters Peggy (Russ) Severson and Vicki (Randy) Bjornson, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Hawley Lutheran Church. The funeral will follow at 11:00 A.M., with interment at Hawley Cemetery. The family asks that memorials go to Hospice of the RRV or Hawley Lutheran Church.
