Lorraine Eason Casper, 85, of Eason Lane, Belvidere, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Casper was born in Perquimans County on August 24th, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Tom and Nettie Saunders Eason and wife of the late Calvin "Peter Pan" Casper. The family matriarch, she was primarily a homemaker, but also worked as a bookkeeper. Lorraine enjoyed reading and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play from her window. She also loved watching birds. She was raised in the Bethany Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn LaFleur (Mike), and Connie Riddick (Donald); a son, Steve Casper (Gene); two grandchildren, Damon Winslow (Shannon), and Jessica Santana (Boni); a granddaughter-in-law, Maddy Townsend; seven great-grandchildren, Summer Christian (Julie), Marcos Santana, Faith Christian, Rylee Townsend, Bryar Townsend, James Winslow, and Jackson Winslow; several bonus grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Billy Townsend; and her five sisters, Mildred Weeks, Louise Stallings, Margie Gregory, Betty Lou Riddick, and Gracie Riddick.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11th from 6 to 7:30 pm at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 12th at 11 am in Up River Cemetery, 132 Turnpike Road, Belvidere and will be conducted by Chaplain Steve Shanks. After the graveside service, the family will receive friends at The Onley Place, 308 Craney Island Road, Belvidere, for a celebration of her life.
