Lorraine Patricia Zenda Cwalina, born on Christmas Eve 1937 in Swoyersville to Walter and Martha Zenda, was called to her eternal home on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Peter Cwalina, Sr. as well as her parents and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Peter Cwalina, Jr and wife, Mary Jane, Swoyersville; Paul Cwalina and wife, Ann, Drums; and daughter, Debra Cwalina, Swoyersville; grandchildren, Samantha, Peter Joseph, III, Rebecca, Nicholas, Michael, Colleen, Amanda, and Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Kayden, and Grace.

After her graduation from Swoyersville High School, where she was a cheerleader and active member of the theater club, Lorraine earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Baltimore City Hospitals, Maryland, and worked for several years as an LPN in Baltimore and at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She left nursing to raise her family, then returned as an LPN at Valley Crest Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre, until her retirement.

She was an avid and accomplished polka dancer and attended polka dances and events throughout Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. In the early years of their retirement, Lorraine and Pete traveled across the United States, visiting all but five states, and enjoyed an Alaskan cruise among many other ventures.

Lorraine served her community as a member of the Swoyersville Little League Auxiliary, and as a Christian Mother at the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville.

For the last twenty years, Lorraine could be seen at every home game of The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Hockey Team with her daughter, Debra.

When her grandchildren arrived, she was active in their lives and spent as much time with the six of them whenever she could, putting many miles on the car to watch games, recitals, graduations, and much more.

At Lorraine's request, the viewing, service, and burial will be private for immediate family and will be held on Saturday, September 06, 2025.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
