Lorraine L. Kimball had a gift for making strangers feel like old friends. With her bright eyes and welcoming smile, she turned chance encounters into meaningful connections. On Thursday, October 10th, at the age of 78, this beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away in Reading, Pa., leaving behind a legacy of kindness that touched countless lives.
Born on September 26, 1946, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, to Mary (Kulessa) and Charles Leonard, Lorraine discovered her passion for music early in life. A graduate of St. Ann's Academy, she cultivated her talents in piano and violin, going on to play in various orchestras throughout her life.
For 55 years, Lorraine was the loving wife of David Kimball, who simply describes her as "perfect for him." Together, they built not just a family but a photography business, where Lorraine's natural ability to put people at ease transformed customers into friends. Her genuine warmth and infectious humor made people feel at ease and as if they had known her forever.
Those who knew Lorraine speak of her extraordinary capacity for connection. She would often spend extra time at the grocery store helping a single neighbor plan dinner or listening to a stranger's life story. It was as if people were drawn to her light, instinctively knowing they'd found a sympathetic ear and a caring heart.
Music, dancing, socializing and good food brought joy to her life, but nothing compared to the happiness she found in the company of loved ones. Babies and puppies seemed to sense her gentle spirit, often falling asleep in her arms.
Lorraine's love lives on through her husband David, her daughters, Jessica Kimball (William Orem) of King of Prussia, Pa. and Rebecca Kimball of Los Angeles, Ca., her sister, Charlene Passanite, and her cherished grandson Isley Kimball Williams, whom she affectionately called her "sweetie."
Her family will hold private services to celebrate a life that showed us how simple acts of kindness can create lasting ripples of love in the world. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
