Lorraine J. Miskell, 98, of Granite City, IL, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Eden Village Retirement Center, in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born on February 21, 1928, in Seneca, IL, to Samuel and Anna Milus. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Charles Miskell.
Lorraine found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She had a true gift for creating beauty with her hands, spending countless hours sewing, knitting, quilting, smocking, and embroidering. Each piece she made was stitched with care and love, often given to family and friends as treasured keepsakes.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. As an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, Illinois, Lorraine devoted much of her time to serving her church community. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to put the needs of others before her own.
Above all else, Lorraine was the heart and cornerstone of her family. She took immense pride and joy in raising her children and watching her family grow to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and unconditional love.
Lorraine’s kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Miskell; parents, Samuel and Anna Milus; step-sister, Gloria Foley; brother, Kenneth (Kay) Milus.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Blane (Charlotte) Miskell, Gary (Claudette) Miskell, David (Michelle) Miskell, Paul (Kay) Miskell, Ann (Ed) Holliday; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
