Lorraine T. Nelson, 91, formerly of Hitterdal, MN passed away at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Lorraine was born in Fargo on December 21, 1932, to her loving parents, Henry and Thea (Olson) Nodsle. Lorraine's journey through life was marked by hard work and a kind heart that touched the lives of all those around her.
Lorraine grew up near Ulen, MN and attended country school through 8th grade. She graduated from Ulen High School in 1950. She valued education and knowledge, instilling the importance of learning in those she cared for. On February 26, 1954, Lorraine married Donald Nelson and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. She was an active member of Highland Grove Lutheran Church in Hitterdal until 2007 before joining Salem Lutheran Church in 2008 where she was active in the church circle and quilting. She was also a member of "Go Getters" and spent time volunteering for the area 'Meals on Wheels' program.
In her career, Lorraine made a significant impact through her work at St. John's Hospital, Meltings Food Market, Hawley Creamery, Hitterdal Elevator, and Ulen-Hitterdal High School. Her dedication and work ethic were truly commendable, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of many.
As a loving mother, Lorraine's greatest joy came from caring for her children. She also cherished the time spent with her 4 granddaughters and 5 great-grandsons.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Renee (Jerry) Waller, and Laurie Wolfswinkel; granddaughters Tracy (Ryan) Kessel, Ashley (Matt) Johnk, Jennifer Nelson, and Casie Wolfswinkel; great-grandsons Peyton, Reis, Drew, Brennan, and Mason; sisters Carol Meyer, Beverly Schultz, Donna (Eugene) Tangen, Diane (Waldo) Syverson, and Ardith (LeRoy) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Volborg Schmeig, Margaret Burkhardsmeir, and Gwen Nodsle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her son Ron, brother John, and sisters, June Carol, and Darlene.
A visitation will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN on February 28, 2024, from 10-11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00.
Final resting place will be in Highland Grove Lutheran Cemetery, Hitterdal, MN.
