Marilyn "Mickey" Granlund

Mickey Granlund passed away at home in Battlement Mesa, Colorado on February 27, 2026 at the age of 87.

Mickey was born September 28, 1938 in Valley City, North Dakota, the third child of Oscar and Eleanor Olson. She grew up on the family farm near Fort Ransom, ND, a small town of mostly Norwegian immigrants. Mickey married Wm. Curtis Granlund (also from Fort Ransom) on August 12, 1956. The couple lived in Wimbledon, ND; Hawley, MN; and then Moorhead, Minnesota, where they lived for the next 21 years, raising five children. Besides raising kids, Mickey also worked for a hardware store in Moorhead.

In 1981, most of the family moved to Eagle, Colorado, where Curt had gotten a job in school administration. After five years in Eagle, Curt & Mickey moved to Fairplay, CO (again, for Curt's new job), and eventually retired to their new home in Battlement Mesa, CO in 1994. Mickey worked in property management in Vail, CO, where she was head of the housekeeping staff; and at the local post office and a home décor shop, both in Battlement Mesa.

Survivors include her husband, Curt; and four children: Cheryl (Frank) Farren from Eagle, CO; Craig (Lorraine) Granlund from Grand Junction, CO; Grant Granlund from Palisade, CO; and Gene (Ben) Bray from Gypsum, CO. She is also survived by her youngest brother, David (Renee) Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Dick and Paul Olson; and her daughter Georgia Abbott.

Mickey will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a devoted wife of 69 years, a wonderful mom, a great cook, grandmother to four, and great-grandmother to eleven.

A memorial service will be held later this year.
