Carl Granlund Obituary

Carl Leslie Granlund, 84, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 9:01 p.m. at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born April 26, 1941, in Johnsonburg, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer O. and Margarette A. (Weber) Granlund. He was united in marriage to the former Nancy Lou Jacobs on November 21, 1963 in Hermitage, PA. Mrs. Granlund preceded him in death on January 20, 2013, after 49 years of marriage.

Mr. Granlund is survived by his son, Kurt Leslie Granlund of Huntingdon, and his daughter, Krista Lou Reihart and her husband, Robert Edgar Reihart, of Alexandria. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Dr. Layne Gabriella Reihart of Columbia, South Carolina, Logan Jennifer Reihart of Alexandria, Morgan Leslie (Granlund) Lytle and husband Zachary James Lytle of Jersey Shore, and Nora Eileen Reihart of Alexandria; two grandsons, Kasey Robert Granlund and Nolan Edgar Reihart, both of Huntingdon; and two great-granddaughters, Aviona Blayke and Raya Esmeralda Lytle of Jersey Shore.

He is also survived by a brother, Rodger W. Granlund of State College, and a sister, Ellen E. "Betsy" Parrish and husband, Mike, of Johnsonburg, along with many nieces and nephews who he enjoyed spending time with over the years. In addition, he is survived by his companion of the last eight years, Shelby Shoemaker of Huntingdon, and her family.

Mr. Granlund was a graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, Class of 1959.

Throughout his teenage years and early adulthood, he worked at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill. In April 1970, he graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and shortly after was stationed with Troop G at the Huntingdon Barracks. After 27 years of service, he retired as a Corporal in January 1997. During his retirement, he worked for the Huntingdon County Domestic Relations Office. He was also employed part-time for many years at Jon Dysard's Garage in Huntingdon.

Mr. Granlund was a member of the McConnellstown United Methodist Church and served on many committees over the years.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed attending the many activities of his children and grandchildren over the years. He was a collector of model trains, enjoyed woodworking, auto mechanics, and riding the various Harley Davidson motorcycles he owned throughout his lifetime, especially when riding with his son.
