Francis Jeanne Granlund

Frances Jeanne Granlund, was born Frances Jeanne Balbierz in Marquette, Michigan, on October 5, 1929. Jeanne passed away on October 31, 2024, which was ironically her favorite holiday.
She graduated from Graveraet High School and earned college credit from Northern Michigan University, as well as an associate's degree from North Central Michigan College.
Jeanne married the love of her life, William Granlund, and they enjoyed over 60 years of wedded bliss. They were best friends who did everything together. Jeanne was a wonderful mother to her two sons, James and David Granlund.
Jeanne worked outside of the home for both Michigan Bell and General Telephone. She also worked at the Otsego County Library and as a teacher's assistant for Gaylord Community Schools.
Preceding Jeanne in death were her husband, William; her son, James; her daughter-in-law, Carol Granlund; and her parents, Emma and George Balbierz.
She is survived by her son, David; his wife, Dixie Anderson; Cheryl Granlund (James's wife); and her grandchildren, Brianna (August Clark) Granlund, Elyse (John) Danielson, Hannah (Ryan) Overby, and finally Laura Granlund. Jeanne was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Nadia, Simona, Talia, Miles, Eve, Milo, Ayla Mae, and finally Evelyn Rose.
There will be a visitation at Nelsons Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on June 21, 2025, at St. Mary Cemetery in Gaylord.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jeanne's honor may be made to Friends For Life of Otsego County, or to the Otsego County Historical Society.
