Lorraine Louise Wells Peterson

Lorraine Louise Wells Peterson, 91, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at her home in Harrisburg, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 21, 1933, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Minor B. and Rebecca (Scott) Wells, Sr.
Lorraine dedicated herself to being a strong and independent woman for herself and her family. She taught herself to cook and bake while studying to further her education. After obtaining her diploma, Lorraine was employed with Bell Atlantic (AT&T) until her retirement.
Lorraine was passionate about keeping her family and neighbors safe; she joined the Community Activist Program at the Harrisburg Police Substation and was known for her courage and her bravery.
She also enjoyed bingo, baking, puzzles with 1,000 or more pieces, and watching football and Reality Television with her family.
Lorraine will be remembered for her amazing sense of fashion, baking the most delicious orange cakes ever made, and loving her family above all else.
She is survived by her children, Anthony S. Peterson, Troy A. Peterson, Rosalyn L. Poles, Stephanie L. Foster and husband Richard, Colette N. Peterson, Tamara Y. Peterson, Julie R. Williams and husband Earl, and Lisa L. Peterson; brother, Barry Wells; sisters, Yvonne Brisbane and husband James, Patricia Pierce, and, Lynne Antoinette Martin; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who affectionately knew her as 'Goomba'.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Peterson, Sr.; son, Kenneth E. Peterson, Jr.; daughter, Bernadette L. Peterson; brother, Bernard Wells, Jr.; sisters, Geraldine Smith, Shirley Pierce, Sondra Daniels and Jean Wells; Granddaughters, Lorraine Yvette Peterson and Juanita Hagins; Grandsons, Timothy Cox and Jamonie Peterson; Great Granddaughter, Kylinn Peterson.
Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, with a public visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Followed by a Celebration of Life, officiated by Lynda Richardson Leach, at 12:00 PM.
