Lorretta E. Seeling

Lorretta Elsie Seeling 87 of Rockford Illinois passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 born August 11, 1938 in Freeport, Illinois daughter of Clifford and Elsie (Comstock) Lumsden. She graduated from West High School class of 1956. She worked at Illinois Bell, AT&T, A Life member of AT&T Pioneers.

She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—sitting in the sun with a good book, planting flowers in her garden, and cooking meals filled with love for her family and friends. A longtime and dedicated member of the SMSF Women’s Auxiliary, she lent her time and talents to many events, including the ever-popular Taco Tuesday. She especially cherished the friendships she formed at the club and the moments spent visiting with those she held dear. She was kind and warm and made everyone around her feel the enormous amount of love and joy she brought to the world. Her presence had a way of lighting up a room, and her compassion and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know her. She will forever be missed and remembered in the hearts of all who came to know and love her.

Lorretta is survived by her children; Scott (Janine) Showen, Mark (Tonda) Melenas, Jada (Paul) Butler, Laurie (Jeff) Jones, Kathy Beck. Grandchildren; Bryton (Makenzie) Melenas, Girard Sosnowski, Dustin Sosnowski (Amber Thompson), Ashley Silva (Jermaine Robinson), Dylan (Taylor) Payne. Great Grandchildren; Halie Montalto, Makenzie Montalto, Brooklyn Robinson, Isabella and Asher Sosnowski, Kayleigh Thompson, and Xander Roed. Sister, Janet Lind and brother, Theodore (Pam) Lumsden Along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Lorretta was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Lorretta‘s life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the SMSF club 1010 Sandy Hollow Rd., Rockford, IL 61109.
