Lorrie Luethe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 13, 2023.
Laura "Lorrie" Lee (Walling) Luethe, 66, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, in Forest Grove, Ore. She was born in Vancouver, Wash., on Jan. 3, 1957, to parents James "Jim" Wesley Walling and Colleen "Connie" Genevieve (Stark) Walling.

Family and friends remember Lorrie as loving, fun and beautiful. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed driving her Corvette and going to the Portland Ballet Theater, movies and regional air shows. She loved her children and animals and always had a few companion dogs.

Lorrie married Anthony "Tony" David Luethe in 1989 and they had two sons, Spencer Boyd Luethe and Christian Anthony Luethe. The couple had a wonderful wedding in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, Nev., with Lorrie's father Jim and his wife Sharon (VanDehey) Walling, as well as her sister and brother in law Kathren (Walling) and Michael Fessler. Lorrie had front row seats to see Frank Sinatra in Las Vegas and managed to hand a bouquet to the singer, who thanked her and called her, "sweetheart." She never forgot it.

Lorrie painted the beautiful signs that advertise the family motel businesses in Rockaway Beach and Manazanita, Ore., and received a municipal award from the City of Rockaway Beach for signage advertising the oceanfront Surfside Resort. The sign features a little girl watching the sunset.

Lorrie is survived by her son Spencer; grandson Trystin; father Jim; sister Kathren and brothers Michael and Nolan Walling. A private memorial service will be held for close family and friends.
