Lory Kidd Obituary

Lory Gene "Winky" Morgan Kidd, 68, of Charleston, WV, passed away on December 7, 2025, at Hubbard House, following complications from multiple long-term illnesses.

She was born on October 25, 1957, in Charleston, WV, to Eugene and June Porterfield Morgan. Lory grew up on Charleston's West Side and was a 1975 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School. She attended West Virginia Tech for three years. After brief employment with Union Carbide, Lory began a 40-year career with the State of West Virginia. She later became Executive Secretary to the Director of Workforce WV and retired at age 62 from the Human Resources Department.

In addition to her parents, Lory was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Raymond Kidd, and her sister-in-law, Angie Waugh Morgan.

Lory is survived by her husband of 14 years, Harold Kidd; her siblings, Brett "Buzzy" Morgan and Cary Morgan Young; her stepchildren, Nicholas Kidd (Marissa) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jonathan Kidd; her step-grandchildren, Claire and Dean Kidd of Pittsburgh, PA; her mother-in-law, Ann (Aliff) Kidd of Beckley, WV; her nieces and nephews, Andrew Young, Sarah Young Friend (Matt), Katie Friend Barrick (Isaiah) of Huntington, Riley Friend Griffith (Aeden) of Huntington, Kadyn Friend of St. Albans, Jenny Morgan (Russell) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and John Morgan (Catherine) of Marysville, OH; her lifelong friend, Cheri Ranson; and her faithful fur baby, CoCo.

Lory loved doing for others and spending time with her family and close friends. She especially enjoyed cooking with her husband, decorating cakes for loved ones' special occasions, and making jewelry. She will be deeply missed by countless friends and relatives.

A celebration of Lory's life will be held at a later date. Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston WV, is handling the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a special person. So kind and had a wonderful laugh. I remember her from the west side, Grace Covenant and stonewall. Beverly Bays

My sincere condolences to the Kidd and Morgan families. Lory was a caring and loving person. Her main topics with me were her husband, her parents and her siblings. She told humorous story's about her parents as their health failed and every humorous stories about the antics of her adored nieces and nephew as they grew into adulthood. She was a loyal employee and a loyal, supportive friend. She leaves positive, happy memories. Leone Lewis

I am so very sorry for the loss of your loved one, Winky. We all grew up on the hill together, although I was several years older. I remember Winky and her siblings and parents very well. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to all who loved her.
