Luis “Louie” Cordova, 78, of Anton Chico, NM and formerly of Amarillo, TX, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in Amarillo, TX.
Louie was born on May 26, 1946, in Las Vegas, NM to Remigio Cordova and Eloisa (Maestas) Cordova.
On November 18, 1972, Louie married the love of his life, Joyce Cordova in Amarillo, TX. Louie dedicated 32 years of service to Affiliated Foods and was also a proud farmer and rancher.
He found great joy in life on the ranch working alongside his brother, David Cordova, and cherished the time spent with his family. One of his favorite memories was after a big snow, he and his brother would head to the ranch to feed the cattle with a pint of wine. He loved burning cactus in the winter for the cows to feed on. Louie had a green thumb and loved working in his yard, where he could grow anything he set his mind to.
Louie is preceded in death by his parents: Eloisa and Remigio Cordova, his beloved wife: Joyce Cordova, and his granddaughter: Addison Jones.
Louie is survived by his two daughters: Andria Jones and Jennifer Ortega and her husband Jorge both of Amarillo, TX, his stepdaughter: Sara Romero of Tecolotito, NM, his grandchildren: Meagan Flores and husband Nestor Navarro, Caleb Jones, Diego Valenzuela and Alyssa, Bella Mia Valenzuela, and Estevan Luis Valenzuela and Taytum, his 2 great-grandsons: Axton Von and Adriel Brae Navarro, his aunt: Lisbe Otero of Pueblo, CO, his brother: David Cordova and wife Dolores of Anton Chico, NM, his sisters: Rachel Cordova of Pueblo, CO, and Becky Cordova of Dilia, NM, a very special friend: Maria Velasquez, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Louie’s love for his family, his passion for his work, and his devotion to the land will always be remembered by those who knew him.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Anton Chico, NM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico with Father Timothy Meurer officiating. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Anton Chico, alongside his wife Joyce with Diego Valenzuela, Estevan Valenzuela, Caleb Jones, Shane Backus, Joseph L. Madrid, John Hern, Delfino “Beanie” Montano, and Gerald Maestas serving as urn-bearers.
