Louis D. Agnos, 79, of
Palatine, IL, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Born January 17, 1946, in Chicago, IL, to Dan and Harriet Agnos, Lou lived a life full of love, laughter, and connection.
What mattered most to Lou was his family. For 56 years, he shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Peg (née Spathis), and was the proud father of Dennis (Christopher Palacios) Agnos and Jennifer (Michael) Figurelli. The role he cherished above all was that of Papou to his grandchildren Niko, Navella, Joan, and Lena who brought him endless joy. Lou was also a loving brother to Peter (Betty) and uncle to Damon and Dean Agnos.
Beyond family, Lou filled life with humor, heart, and a spark all his own. In the 1980s, unlike his baseball manager rival and dear friend Howie, Lou was the winningest Skokie Youth Baseball manager, a title he held with both swagger and joy. On the golf course, he also was known as the most consistent fairway hitter around (though maybe not always the longest). A lifelong sports lover, Lou was the biggest New York Yankees fan in Chicago, a badge he wore boldly, even in Cubs country.
When he wasn't watching or coaching sports, you could find Lou crashing mopeds on summer vacations, serenading his daughter and friends with his unforgettable rendition of Elub Noom (Blue Moon), or delighting in numbers as an amateur math whiz and magic cards game dealer. His friends and loved ones knew that every gathering with Lou meant a good time. His only regret in life was not being able to cash-in his Hall Pass for Diana Ross. Regarding that, " …"it is what it is."
