In Loving Memory of Louis Herman Bamberger Jr.

Louis Bamberger, beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 25, 2025 at the age of 63. Everyone who knew him would say he was approachable, funny, and loyal.

Born on February 6, 1962 in San Francisco, California, Louis enjoyed his childhood in Redwood City, enjoying all the area had to offer with his two younger siblings. He belonged to the Masonic youth organization, DeMolay, where he made many fond memories with friends. Upon graduation from Sequoia High School, he enlisted in the US Navy where he trained in computing. He then served for 3 and a half years on the USS Horne CG-30. He carried that same work ethic into his civilian life, building a career as a computer technician. Known for his patience and problem-solving skills, he could fix anything.

Outside of work, Louis had a deep love for music. Whether it was spinning classic records, strumming his guitar along to his favorite tunes, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with headphones on, music was his sanctuary. He passed on that love to his children, teaching them to find comfort and connection in melody and lyrics.

Photography was his other great passion. With a camera always close by, he had a gift for capturing life’s fleeting beauty—from golden sunsets to spontaneous family smiles. His photos reflected the way he saw the world: with patience, perspective, and reverence for the small, meaningful moments.

Above all, Louis was a husband and father. In 1980, he met his wife, Cheryl while attending a DeMolay dance. After 42 years of marriage, and raising 3 kids, he loved spending the last few years with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, children Scott, Sarah, and Alyssa, and grandchildren Stanley and Clara, who will carry his memory forward with every song played and every photo taken.

He will be laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. A Celebration of Life will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home South Sacramento, Saturday, July 26th, 11:00 am.

James Taylor, Louis’ favorite musician, said, “The Secret to Life is Enjoying the Passage of Time” which Louis would quote often. It is definitely what Louis tried to do every day of his life.
