Mary Sue and the entire family, you have our prayers for comfort and guidance during this difficult time. I know you have many family and friends who will be there for you but if you need anything at all, let me know and my family will be there.
Although we have not had the time to know Deak and your family really well, I remember when we first met you at Mr. Goodies as my son was introducing us to his future in laws. I was just at the end of a migraine so I wasn't the best version of myself that day but Deak was such an amazing conversationalist, that I walked away feeling like I'd known him for a lifetime. He had a way of making one feel at ease instantly and made me laugh no matter how bad my head hurt. He just emulated class and respect. His humor, even at the wedding was always in good timing and it was obvious how much he loved his family and looked at you like there was no one else that mattered. For the only few times I was blessed to be in his presence, his reputation through the family is even more impressive. To say he lived a full life sounds like an understatement. May we all be so lucky! God bless you and your family! We are honored to donate to the ALS in his good name!

Oh Mary Sue and Family, I am heartbroken to read this. And yet smiling at the amazing life, full of adventures, that you and Deak led for 53+ years.
It has been almost 55 years since we lived across the hall from each other at Ludwell, but I will never forget how kind you both were to me while Chuck was in Vietnam. And then, years later, we visited you, I think in Pensacola.
You and your boys and grands are in my heart and in my prayers.
