Louis "Louie" W. Ganske, 77, of Beaver Dam passed away after a three-year struggle with cancer on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam with his family by his side. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 21st from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Chris Davis officiating. Interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton. Louie was born on April 24, 1938 in Beaver Dam to Louis S. and Gezina (Freriks) Ganske. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Louie married Barbara Glassman on July 22, 1961 in Beaver Dam. He was a lifelong farmer in the township of Beaver Dam, and was also employed with Jung's Seed Co. later in life. Louie was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam where he served as an elder as well as on various committees. He served as a member of the United Cooperative Board of Directors for over 30 years where he held offices as secretary and vice-president. Louie served on the Dodge County Meat Animal Sale Committee for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Dodge County Pork Producers Association serving as its vice-president. Louie is survived by his children: Douglas (Susan D.) Ganske of Beaver Dam, Janice (Bart) Schyvinck of Reedsburg, and Susan A. Ganske (Carl Schraufnagel) of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren: Aaron and Micah Ganske, Austin, Morgan, and Connor Schyvinck, and MacKenzie, Carley, and Kera Schraufnagel; his special friend, Jackie Brotherton of Kingston; his sister, Nathalie Jackson of Brookfield; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara in 1996, and his brothers-in-law: Scott Herman and Jack Jackson. The family wishes to express its gratitude to Dr. Kim and the entire staff of the Beaver Dam Specialty Clinic Oncology Department and especially to the wonderful and compassionate care Louie received from everyone at Hillside Manor and Hillside Hospice. Memorials may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church or to Hillside Hospice both of Beaver Dam.
