Louis LaPorte Obituary

Louis F. LaPorte, age 59, of Deerfield, passed away, unexpectedly from heart failure, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Wynn Hospital.

He was born in Utica, on January 20, 1967, a son of Orazio (Ray-Speed) LaPorte and the late Helen Eddy LaPorte and was educated in local schools, having graduated from TR Proctor High School. After meeting in 2013, Louis and Rebecca Lewek shared a loving 13-year journey, marrying on July 18, 2020, on First Lake in Old Forge, NY, a blessed union of over five years of marriage.

Louis was employed with the City of Utica School District, as Head Custodian, at Albany Elementary School. In addition, together with his close friend and mentor, Mike Dziura, they had a business called Silverado Painting.

Louis was an avid outdoorsman. He had a love of all outdoor activities and was a sports enthusiast. His favorite pastime was golfing, a sport which truly brought him much joy.

A loving and devoted son, husband, brother and uncle, he will be sadly missed, but his family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Rebecca; his father, Orazio (Ray-Speed) LaPorte; three sisters Michele A. LaPorte, Mary T. (Matthew) Ryan and Donna LaPorte; nephews, Corey Ryan and Mackey (Carolyn) White; aunts, Kathleen Eddy, Joyce Eddy and Kathleen Lewek; uncle, George (Laurie) LaPorte; mother-in-law, Lizabeth Walker, the Sherwood Family, Lorene, Chris, Noah and Sofia; and many cousins. Louis also had many friends he considered family too numerous to name individually. He also leaves his canine companions, Amos, Jake and Stevie; and his feline companion, Kiko.

Louis was predeceased by his mother, Helen LaPorte; and father-in-law, Richard Lewek.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, from 4-6 p.m., at The Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Funeral service prayers will be held at the conclusion of visitation, at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers and food, remembrances, in Louis' name, may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. If acknowledgement of your donation is needed, please use [email protected].

Lou, from wetmore school to high school, I loved you like a brother. I´ll always remember the talks we had prior to graduation how we were going to go into the marines together according to the buddy system!!!! It never happened because that was a ploy just to get us to sign up. It was an honor to be your friend.. and would have been a bigger one if we actually got to serve together! LOVE YOU BROTHER!!!

Louie was my godson. I have many happy memories of spending fun times with him here in Santa Barbara where he has many friends who loved him. He was taken from us far too soon. My thoughts are with his dad, sisters and wife. I am sure he is in a better place reunited with his wonderful mother and with my parents Antoinette and Rocky Paladino, who loved him dearly.
