Louis Parra Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney on Mar. 27, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of, Louis D Parra Sr., devout husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this life on March 25, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on March 16, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas.

A proud second-generation Mexican American, he lived a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and a quiet but steadfast example of devotion, humility, and service. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes-always putting his family first and leading by example.

He dedicated 36 years of his career to General Motors, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic. At times, he worked multiple jobs to ensure his family was cared for and provided for. He was a true "do-it-yourself" man, able to fix, build, and solve just about anything, leaving a legacy not only in what he built with his hands, but in the values he instilled in those he loved.

He was born and raised in the Kansas City area, where he built a life centered on family. He raised his children on the west side of Kansas City, Missouri, before later moving to the Northland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Bennie; seven of his eight siblings; and his beloved son, John.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Sharon; his children Leonard, Louis Jr., Gil, Patricia, and Shannon, their spouses; nieces, nephews and his brother Ernie; as well as 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of faith, strength, and love.

He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the family he cherished and the example he set-a life defined not by words, but by love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

May he rest in eternal peace.
