Rafael Dario Parra

Rafael Dario Parra, 84, of Fairfax, VA, passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2026.

He was born on May 7, 1941 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Raised by his mother, Oliva Del Carmen Parra, until her passing in 1959. With few resources available to him during those days, his work ethic would allow him to learn different skills in order to make ends meet during tough times.

He moved to the United States in 1966. He built his first home and started a family with three children in Falls Church, VA with his first wife, Ana C. Parra.

In 1986, he remarried to his second wife, Annie Parra. They moved to Fairfax, VA, and built their first home together where they had their only child.

He worked proudly for Safeway for over 32 years until his retirement. He was an excellent carpenter, which allowed his imaginations of building anything made out of wood to come true. He had a passion for models trains, playing guitar, and incredible dancing skills. He loved traveling back home to Colombia to celebrate the Carnival de Barranquilla every year. His faith and loyalty to the Lord was undeniable, as he was very active and involved with the Catholic Church. He loved his family, friends, and colleagues.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Annie Parra. His four children, Katie Connell (Kris), Kevin Parra (Elvia), Jenny Bennett (Michael), and Raphael Parra (Gabriela); and his six grandchildren, Caitlin Parra, Loren Parra, Drea Bennett, Maya Bennett, Rosalia Parra, and Roman Parra.

His viewing will be held on Monday from 3pm-7pm at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home.
