Louis L. "Gigi" Pompei

Louis L. Pompei, Jr. "Gigi," 78, of Southington and former longtime Bristol resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at HOCC of New Britain. He was the loving husband and high school sweetheart of Rosemary (Abbate) Pompei for nearly 58 years. Louis was born in Bristol on September 3, 1944, son of the late Lewis L. Pompei, Sr. and M. Frances (Coletto) Pompei. He graduated from St. Anthony's Highschool in Bristol and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. Gigi was a printer by trade and owned and operated his own printing company alongside his wife Rose for many years. He was a member of the Italian Social Club, an avid martial artist and coached little league for many years. He found great joy in teaching and mentoring children, especially his own grandchildren. In addition to his wife Rose, Gigi is survived by two sons, Stephen Pompei and wife Jennifer and James Pompei and wife Alison, both of Bristol, 4 grandchildren, Both Captains of the USMC Anthony Pompei and wife Anneliese, Alyssa Pompei, Santino Pompei and Serena Pompei and 2 great-grandchildren, Gianni and Bella. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Anne Louise and Robert Konopka of Bristol and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Mary and Raymond Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gigi's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 26, 2023 at St. Dominic's Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Military honors will follow.
