Louis A. Rocha (Lou), 95 of Bedford, NH died, February 1, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lowell, MA on December 8, 1917 and was the son of Henry and Mary (Souza) Rocha. He had resided in the Lowell area for many years until moving to New Hampshire.
He was educated in the Lowell school system and later entered the US Army where he served in the Philippines as a Staff Sergeant in the Americal Division in Guadalcanal.
Following his time in the Army, he worked as a Group Leader and precision machinist with Raytheon Corp for many years.
He was an avid bowler, starting out as a pin boy and ultimately bowling a perfect game and winning numerous titles. He enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending time with his family. Upon retirement he spent many afternoons on the Mount Pleasant Golf Course and driving and exploring New Hampshire up until his passing.
Lou will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and gentle manor. He was most fortunate to live a long and full life.
Family members include his wife Dorothy Rosamilio of Bedford; a daughter, Reverend Rosemary Rocha of MN; three sons, Louis A Rocha Jr. and his wife Dolores of Richmond, MA; William Rocha of Nashua, NH, Gerald Rocha and his wife, Heidi of Bedford, NH; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Rocha; three sisters, Beatrice Kane, Elizabeth Machado, Virginia Boradowka all of Lowell, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Lillian (Lussier) Rocha in 1981.
A service and reception took place on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the family residence at 65 Hawthorne Dr. Bedford, NH. Reverend Rosemary Rocha officiated. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the VNA Hospice Program, 1070 Holt Ave, Suite 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
