Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Jan. 8, 2025.
Louis Michael Slivensky, known affectionately by friends and family as Mike, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on September 29, 1934, in Pontiac, MI, and married to Beverly for 69 years, Mike's vibrant spirit and affable nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, Mike's dedication to his education was only matched by his commitment to serving his country. As an Army veteran, he embodied the values of loyalty and perseverance, which he carried throughout his life and into his successful career. Mike's professional journey at General Motors was marked by his ascent to various executive positions, a testament to his hard work and leadership. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to become a respected GM/Volvo dealer, where his integrity and generosity built lasting relationships with employees and customers alike.
Mike's life was rich with laughter and optimism, traits that endeared him to many and made him a cherished figure in both his professional and personal circles. Those who knew Mike will remember him not just for his accomplishments but for his humor and his unwavering positive outlook on life. He was the kind of person who could find a silver lining in any cloud and was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood.
Family was the cornerstone of Mike's world. He was a loving father to his children, Mike (Roberta) Slivensky, Lynne Hernet, and Ann Hanna. As a grandfather, he took immense joy in the lives and adventures of his grandchildren, Diana (Joe) Slivensky, Devan (Tim) Hanna, Susanne Slivensky, Zachary Hernet, Kate (Zac) Hanna, Lauren Hanna and his great grandchildren Cal Ryan and Robbie Slivensky. Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly. Each of them benefited from Mike's wisdom, humor, and the kind of supportive love that leaves a lasting legacy.
Louis Michael Slivensky's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the enduring impact of kindness. As we reflect on his 90 years, we find comfort in knowing that his was a life well-lived, full of moments that brought joy and light to everyone around him. Mike will be deeply missed, but the love and laughter he shared will remain in our hearts forever.
