Louise Colamarino Obituary

Ventura Louise Colamarino is now at peace; she passed away on April 8, 2023. Louise was born in Spiro, Oklahoma, and soon moved to Lamont, California. She happily spent her childhood with her parents, Claude and Lilian Claunch, older sister Claudine, and older brothers Henry Fletcher and James Joyce. She graduated from Arvin High School in 1954. As a young woman, Louise worked as a roller-skating carhop, sang backup for Buck Owens early in his musical career, and eventually moved to the Los Angeles area with her family. Louise went to work for Pacific Bell, where she worked in all aspects of telecommunication, from one of the original switchboard operators to an account executive, when she retired in 1989.
In 1964 she met the love of her life, Ben Colamarino, whom she married in 1965. Louise and Ben had two children, a daughter Robbin, and a son John. They lived overseas in the Philippines for several years, eventually settling in Yorba Lind, California. After retiring in 1989, they moved to Bakersfield, where they were active in the Elks Lodge and Roving Elks for many years. They spent the next 26 years traveling and enjoying their retirement together. They loved life together for 50 years until Ben's death in 2015. Louise's greatest desire was to spend time with family and friends, and she was always organizing events to make this happen. Her Pismo Beach Thanksgiving events were legendary.
Louise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robbin and Howard Forepaugh; son John Colamarino; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Louise was a wonderful lady who was gentle and kind yet tough as nails when necessary. She had a green thumb, a huge heart, and a sly sense of humor that could catch you off guard anytime. We were lucky to have loved and to be loved by her. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Service will be held on May 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Bakersfield National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow on May 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at her son John's house in Ventura. All are welcome to attend.

I have so many happy memories of your mom and dad during their time in Yorba Linda. I am so heartbroken that you have lost such a great lady, Our family lost my husband just two months ago. I have a feeling he's with your parents enjoying one of their get-togethers!
