Louise Cope, 81, of Howland, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, while surrounded by her loving family. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Lawson, Rev. Billy Norris and Michael Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in McDonald Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cope, the daughter of Ardell & Mable Chance Gray, was born December 7, 1930, in Lamar County. She grew up in the Gadston & Broadway Communities and attended Midway School. On March 24, 1947, she married Jewel Cope, building sixty years of family and memories before his death on Aug. 12, 2007. Her career with Campbell Soup Company spanned 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a great grandson, Zane Newsom, two brothers, Robert Gray & John Gray and two sisters, Helen Jones & Wanda McElroy. Survivors include eight children; Martha Roach & husband Thomas, Cheryl Fields & husband Benny, Kathy Ballard & husband Dwayne, Debbie Wood & husband William, Gary Cope & wife Virginia, Stevie Cope & wife Beverly, Mike Cope and Barry Cope & wife Tina, a granddaughter, Britney Cope, whom she adopted & reared as her own, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, a brother, Gene Gray along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be her grandsons; Dustin Cope, Landon Cope, Ryan Cope, Marcus Wood, Cory Wood, Greg Newsom, Brian Newsom, Paul Fields and Kevin Nimmo. Her great grandsons will serve as honorary bearers.
