Louise Lyon Davidson passed away on November 7, 2025, in Newton, MA.
She was born on May 4, 1932, in Meriden, Connecticut to George Lyon and Harriet Crowell.
She spent her early years in Rhode Island, Limerick, Maine, and Manchester, NH. Louise graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1953 and retained a lifelong devotion to her alma mater.
Louise married Dekkers Henri Davidson on June 4, 1955. Together, they raised three children in Thornwood, N.Y., Dekkers L. Davidson of Concord, MA (Barb), Russell Davidson of Katonah, NY (Sue), and Anne Barr of Orinda, CA (Fred Matteson). Louise especially enjoyed summers at Lake George with her family that grew to include 8 grandchildren: Kyle (Danielle), Tara (Brian) Chalifour, Madeleine (Mark) Knutson, Eliza Jane, Emma Barr, Dekkers Barr, Andrew Matteson, Dani Matteson and her three great grandchildren Liliana and Thomas Davidson and Riley Louise Chalifour.
She served her community as President of Parent Teacher Associations and President of the League of Women Voters. Professionally, Louise worked at the Readers Digest, assisted a well-known children's book author, led teams at the American Field Service (AFS), reported for the Patent Trader newspaper, and planned events for a local catering firm.
For the past 42 years, she made her home in Huletts Landing, NY along the shores of Lake George. She was President of the Lake George Garden Club and active with the Women's Guild and the Mountain Grove Memorial Church and played a significant role in bringing the community together in countless ways for which she is well remembered.
In the last 20 years of her life, she reconnected with a special friend from her college days, George Gates, and they travelled extensively together within the United States and abroad.
Eight years ago, Louise moved to the North Hill Continuing Care Facility in Needham, MA where she lived in the winter. Like the other communities she touched, Louise shared her special talents to forge strong friendships and bring the community together.
Louise is predeceased by her husband Dekkers H. Davidson and survived by her brother, George Lyon of Escondido, CA, her three children, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mom, Grandma, Gigi, and a friend to many, Louise will be missed.
A Celebration of Life is planned for July 11, 2026, at the Mountain Grove Memorial Church in Huletts Landing, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mountain Grove Memorial Church, PO Box 209, Huletts Landing, NY 12841 or to the National Kidney Foundation: https://Nkfcnow.org/LouiseDavidsonMemorial.
