Marcy (Goldenberg) Koff passed on November 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She managed to escape tragedy four times: three times almost drowning in the Pacific Ocean and in a public pool in the Catskills, and getting trapped in severe undertow in NH, and then getting run over by a car in San Diego when she was 3.5 years old.
Marcy thoroughly enjoyed reading fiction and scouring news on the internet. She likely knew the news before it even happened. She was known by her family and friends as very detail-oriented and as an excellent researcher who could often find information about people and random topics that others couldn't. And her search usually took seconds. Friends suggested she be a private investigator, and she would have been a great one!
She was also an amazing troubleshooter who never gave up (stubborn to a fault) until she found a solution. Marcy solved computer issues, lighting problems, and telephone issues, among others.
Marcy loved to cook Jewish specialties such as brisket, stuffed cabbage, chicken soup and matzoh balls (so fluffy and yummy), and chopped liver. She was known to take three-hour round-trippers to Reins Deli in Connecticut to pick up tongue, corned beef, pastrami, and full sour pickles.
Besides loving the Jewish delicacies, she loved the Yankees. She knew all the players' stats, the team schedule and rivalries, and injuries and updates. Go, Yankees!
She also enjoyed crafts and sewing and whipped up dresses, aprons, hats and other masterpieces for her wonderful and much-loved grandchildren: Colin, Miriam, Hannah and Jonah. Marcy is sad that she won't get to see them grow up but she's sure they'll make a difference in the world and will have successful, fruitful lives. They certainly have wonderful role models to emulate.
Above all, she absolutely adored her daughters, Wendy and Jaime. She supported and encouraged them in every step of their lives and was so proud of who they are. She couldn't imagine loving anyone more.
Marcy graduated from Syracuse University and received her masters from Boston University, both in Spanish education. However, she never taught. Instead, she pursued her passion of writing and editing and worked for many years at an engineering firm and at PennWell Corp., where she was managing editor of niche magazines such as Lightwave, Cabling Installation and Maintenance, and Small Times (Nanotechnology).
Marcy is survived by her loving husband Steve, of 52 years (Chelmsford, MA); her daughters Wendy Silver (Jason) of Sunnyvale, CA and Jaime Cohen (Steve) of East Greenwich, RI; her grandchildren, Colin and Miriam Silver, and Hannah and Jonah Cohen; brother Robin and his wife Maggie of McLean, VA; brother Steven and his wife Phyllis of Roslyn, NY; and father Irving of Boynton Beach, FL; and her nieces and nephews, Jonathan Goldenberg, Ben Gould, Sam Gould, Rachel Pilger, and Joshua Goldenberg, as well as their spouses and children. She was predeceased by her sister, Betsy, and her mother, Honey. She also leaves a slew of wonderful friends, some of them friends for 60 years. Talking with them on the phone or in person was such a tremendous joy!
Marcy's brother Robin referred to her as the family historian because her memory was so sharp. And her husband, Steve, joked that she could remember every single outfit she wore on dates she had 60 years ago! We hope you always remember her as she remembered all of you, who brought such happiness into her life.
A private funeral service was held for Marcy at Dee Funeral Home in Concord, followed by burial in the Green Cemetery in Carlisle, near her sister, Betsy.
Her family requests that any donations made in her memory be sent to the Mass General Hospital Brigham Cancer Center.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
