Louise Virginia Dermott

Louise Virginia (DeVries) Dermott, 93 of Kalamazoo went home to her Lord on July 15, 2023. She was born to the late Garrett and Catherine (Paauwe) DeVries on February 26, 1930.
Louise spent her career as a nurse and was always devoted to her patients. She was a proud nurse at Borgess Hospital and served at many local nursing homes. She retired from Kirsch Co. of Sturgis after 20 years. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed bingo and being a member of Bethany Reformed Church. She was very proud of her Dutch and German heritage. Her favorite saying was "Ich Liebe Dich" for I love you.
What she loved most of all was her family. She held them dearly to her heart and cherished every experience she had with them. Louise is survived by her son Ernest Chenery and his wife Theresa; grandchildren Ernest (Katherine Medford) Chenery, Joseph (Samantha) Chenery, Amanda (Daniel Abretske) Chenery, Marvin (Lorie) Stevens Jr., and David Stevens; great-grandchildren Orion and Olivia Chenery, Collin and Simon Chenery, Tabitha and Mackenzie Stephenson; sister Margaret Adkins; a nephew Elmer (Deb) Adkins Jr.; a niece Kathy (Fred) Drobny; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Evans Dermott, son Alex Castle, daughter Anita (Castle) Allen, nephew Garrett Adkins; sister Joyce E. Pecotte; and brother-in-law Elmer Adkins.
At this time, cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private graveside service at Roof Cemetery in Climax.
