Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Mortuary - Las Vegas on Nov. 5, 2025.
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Louise L. Fernandez has been called home by the Lord. It is with deep gratitude and pride we honor her in life and her passing. She lived a long, healthy life, one filled with adventure, joy and enduring love.
Born to Victor Lopez and Soledad Trujillo de Lopez, she was a devoted, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, companion, and caretaker, a woman whose love knew no bounds. Deeply cherished by her family, she brought warmth, laughter, and unwavering support to every stage of life.
As a military wife, she embraced the adventure of living in many different places. She often reminisced about the time she and her eldest children spent in Panama. This was a time she deeply cherished with her husband and family. Upon returning to the States, the family resided in Denver prior to returning to New Mexico and settling in Mineral Hill, where she devoted herself to raising her children. A proud and active member of her community, she spent many years serving as the village bus driver.
Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by those she loved, nurturing her family and creating memories in the beautiful New Mexico Mountains, where she found peace and joy in fishing and the simple beauty of nature.
She delighted in sharing stories of her adventures in Panama, Germany, Denver, Mississippi and right here in Mineral Hill where she too grew up. A witness to many eras, she carried a wealth of experience and wisdom that she shared generously.
She enjoyed traveling and dancing, and found joy in the simple pleasures such as gardening, tending to her chickens, flowers and her beloved dog Paco. She also enjoyed spending her day's bird watching, fishing, and observing the resident elk and deer graze from her kitchen window. These hobbies nourished her soul and contributed to her youthful spirit, which she carried with her until her passing.
She leaves behind her children, George Fernandez, Victor Fernandez (wife Valerie), Barbara Martinez, Clifford Duran (wife Amie) and Ray Duran and a large, loving family of grand-children, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends whom she cherished, and who will treasure her memory.
She now rests in the loving embrace of Heaven, joined in eternal peace and reunited with her beloved husband, her dear children, John, Edward, and Linda Fernandez, her mother and father, her siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and treasured companions and friends, who have gone before her.
Her spirit, love and strength will continue to guide her family. While she will be deeply missed, her presence will live on in every heart she touched.
Special thanks to her caregiver Viola and Anvoi Compassionate Hospice Care nursing staff for the care and support provided during her most delicate days.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Burial and celebration of life to follow.
