Louise Hines Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels - Waltham on Jan. 17, 2026.
Louise "Chickie" Hines (McCourt), 76, a lifelong resident of Waltham, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of family.

Born on September 14, 1949, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Chickie was the daughter of the late Austin and Mary McCourt (Burke). Raised in Waltham, she was a proud graduate of Waltham High School and remained deeply rooted in the community she loved throughout her life.

Chickie married the love of her life, William J. "Bill" Hines, and together they shared 48 devoted years of marriage. A woman of deep faith, Chickie was a faithful member of St. Mary's Parish in Waltham, where her generosity was evident through decades of service. She volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for more than 20 years, freely giving her time, talents, and compassion to those in need.

Strong-willed, dedicated, and hardworking, Chickie spent a combined total of 42 years as a Medical Secretary at Waltham and Faulkner Hospitals. Her professionalism was matched by her kindness and care for others.

She found great joy in volunteering for her church, cooking and feeding others, attending her son's and grandchildren's sporting events, and spending cherished time with family. She especially loved family vacations to Hampton Beach and Disney World with her grandchildren. Above all, her most treasured roles in life were those of a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, William J. "Bill" Hines; her parents, Austin and Mary McCourt; and her sisters, Julia & Mary.

She is survived by her devoted and loving son, Waltham Firefighter William J. Hines II, and his wife Julie (Barry) of Waltham; her three cherished grandchildren, Mason, Liam, and Ronan Hines; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Pamela Glennon and her husband Steven, Lisa Smith and her husband Carl Smith. She also leaves behind her great-niece Kennedy and great-nephews Cooper, Hunter and Hayden all of whom she held close to her heart.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Chickie's life during a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church located, 133 School Street, Waltham, on Thursday, January 22nd, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chickie's loving memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
