Louise was born on November 19, 1931, in Pocahontas, IA, daughter of Henry and Gertie (DeWall) Schoon. Louise attended school at Pocahontas Community School and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, IA.
Louise married Lester E. Hohensee on February 8, 1953. Lester and Louise moved their family to a farm near Verona, MO in 1977. They were lifelong members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Louise was a nurse at Pocahontas Community Hospital and after moving to Missouri, she worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Monett for over twenty years.
Louise enjoyed camping with her husband and working with plastic canvas projects along with being an avid reader.
Louise is survived by their five children: Barbara (Randy) Meyer of Litchfield Park, AZ, Mark Hohensee of Monett, David (Cindy) Hohensee of Marionville, MO, Ruth (Clint) Skaggs Verona, MO and James (Sherri) Hohensee of Abilene, KS; one sister-in-law, Lucille Boelman of Ankeny, IA; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Louise was preceded in death husband, Lester; her parents, Henry and Gertie Schoon; and her siblings, Doris Ahlrichs, Leroy Schoon and Margaret Rickleffs.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hohensee will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Reverend Jake Sletten will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas with Pastor Jerry Raether officiating. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Home Fund.
