Louise Mary Roberts Lundblad, 98, of East Hampton, CT, passed away on August 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. Louise was born on February 17, 1927, in West Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Helga and William Roberts. Louise was raised in West Haven, CT and graduated from West Haven High School in the class of 1945. A worker bee for all of her days, Louise's first job was working at Armstrong Rubber when they began making rubber boats for WWII. In her spare time, Louise modeled for the Yale School of Art, Armstrong Tires, and in promotional work. She took classes at the New Haven Business School and, in 1947, married the late Donald Lundblad, after his service in the U.S. Army. Donald and Louise lived in West Haven, in the house Donald's family built when they immigrated from Sweden. Together they raised their daughter, Susan, born in 1952 and their son, Edward Sheldon Lundblad, who they welcomed into their family when he was four years old. For 44 years, Donald and Louise owned Lundblad's Jewelers, at 41 Elm Street, in New Haven. They moved to Durham, CT, with their daughter, Susan, son-in-law, Tom, and grandchildren, where they continued to live together for 37 wonderful years. Donald and Louise closed their jewelry store in 1997, but Louise had too much energy to simply retire. She began a second career at 70 years old, working at Rumanoff's Jewelers. Louise cherished her time working with the Rumanoff's, who she considered her "second family". When she wasn't working, Louise filled her time with competitive ballroom dancing, travel, and spending as much time as possible with her family. Louise finally retired at the age of 85, after 65 years of working in the jewelry business. She moved with Tom and Susan to Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, CT, where she'd spent summers since 1945.
Louise spent every day surrounded by her loving family, who she adored. Louise is survived by her daughter, Susan (Thomas) Woodson, son, Edward (Sandra) Lundblad, granddaughter, Sarah (David) Bernhardson, grandson, Samuel (Jackie) Woodson, grandson, Charles (Samantha) Shandrow, and granddaughter, Bonnie (Eric) Meeson. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph (Bonnie) Pierpont, her cousin, Jean (Richard) Moore, and Jean's son, Thomas Moore. She was a proud and adoring great-grandmother to Nathan Bernhardson, Joshua Bernhardson, and Sawyer Woodson, who were so fortunate to spend so much time with Louise. Louise will be remembered for her energy, her strong will, her red lipstick, and her sparkle. Louise's family thanks Middlesex Home Hospice for their incredible care. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages those who would like to remember Louise to do so by making a donation to Middlesex Hospice and having a martini in her honor.
