Louise (Lovis) Margarethe Taule
February 26,1929- August 6, 2025
Louise died from natural causes on August 6, 2025, during Hospice Care
in Traverse City, Michigan, where her daughter, Elaine, lives. Louise
lived independently in her own home in Kernersville North Carolina
until her 96th birthday in February.
Louise lived a long, happy and healthy life. She was born to Norwegian
parents, Alma & Nils Aase, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
During the Great Depression, when Louise was 4 and her brother, Rein
2, the family returned to Isdalstø, Norway. Her father, Nils, opened a
bakery and Louise often helped her father deliver bread to their
neighbors. Alma and Nils had 6 more children (Anna, Nils, Signy, Olaf,
Anders and Werner). Louise became storesøster (big sister) to 7 siblings.
She married, Alf Loe Taule, in 1946. After the German occupation of
Norway during WWII, times were very hard in Norway. In 1951, with
their first child Wenke, they immigrated to Brooklyn. Brooklyn had a
large vibrant Norwegian community. Louise was a United States citizen,
which made immigration easy.
Louise gave birth to her second child in Brooklyn, a10lb baby boy,
Kerry (Jerry). In less that 5 years Louise and Alf fulfilled the American
dream of owning a home! Alf built their first house in Marcella, NJ.
Louise was the "decorator in chief." Their third child, Elaine, was born
in NJ.
Over 45 years, Alf built 7 houses and Louise decorated every one. This
was her passion. Their son, Kerry, also became a master builder.
Louise and Alf moved to Naples, Florida in the 1990's. Louise's
decorating style was featured in the local Naples' newspaper. She was
thrilled.
Louise was a strong, independent woman---having survived the German
occupation of Norway; a momentous life change when she left her closeknit
family to return to America with her husband and young daughter;
the death of her husband, Alf and their beloved son, Kerry. She was also
predeceased by her bothers Nils, Rein, Werner and her sister Signy.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Wenke Taule, husband Peter Sando, and
Elaine Taule; brothers Olaf Aase, wife Beverly, Andy Aase wife, Carol;
sister Anna Aase; 8 grandchildren (Britt, Eric, Breeze, Kate, Bliss,
Kelsey, Blake, Emma and 10 great grandchildren (Ky, Chell, Wren, Lily,
Nora, Landon, Søren, Leif, Finnley and Owen); her much-loved
daughter in law, Deborah Taule, and Deb's daughter Jessica Young. She
is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews in Norway and the
United States.
Her ashes will be put to rest at the Millard Cemetery in Stamford,
Vermont (where the Aase family lived for over 50 years) at the Taule
Family burial plot next to her husband, Alf Loe Taule. There will be a
Memorial Service for her family on October 17, 2025, 11AM at the
Taule gravesite.
