Louise E. Vincelette, affectionately known as "Weezie" by those who knew her best, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on August 8, 1934, in Windham, Louise lived a life marked by dedication of her love for her family.
Louise's early years were spent in the town of Lebanon that she would call home throughout her life. She built a fulfilling career, dedicating several years of service to Electro-Motive in Willimantic before eventually retiring from the University of Connecticut Admissions Office.
Louise was a long-time member of Lebanon Grange #21, where she contributed her talents in various roles, including secretary, treasurer, and lecturer.
For over six decades, she graced the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Lebanon as the organist, sharing her musical gifts and bringing joy to countless congregants. She was known for her tradition of giving candy to the children "who were good" after services, a small gesture that left a lasting impression on the young members of the church. Her involvement in the church extended to teaching Sunday School, participating in the Chancel Guild, and serving on the Good and Welfare Committee, always striving to uplift and support her church family.
Not only did she serve her church, but Louise also cherished her role as a family matriarch. Although predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur, her son Paul, and brothers Edward and Frederick Amon, she leaves behind a sister Ruth Kuzmech of Naugatuck, brother Harold (Pat) Amon of Colchester, and brother Alfred Amon of Lebanon. She leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance through her son Randy (Lynn) Vincelette of Lebanon, her daughter Tina (Paul) Buskey of Lebanon, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Each of them will carry forward the values and memories that Louise instilled in them.
Louise was an avid fan of UConn basketball and the Boston Red Sox, she planned her activities around the games, never missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. Her love for crocheting allowed her to create beautiful, tangible expressions of her care for others.
Those who knew Louise will remember her for her empathy and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever possible. Her kindness was felt by many.
Louise's life was one of purpose, joy, and love. Her spirit and legacy will continue to be celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As her family and friends bid farewell, they take solace in the knowledge that her life was a tapestry of meaningful relationships, steadfast faith, and enduring contributions to the world around her. Louise E. Vincelette's memory will be cherished, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Lebanon, CT (designated to the organ maintenance / upkeep) or the American Cancer Society.
