STURBRIDGE: Louise A. (Gardner) Walker, aged 81, of Wallace Rd., Sturbridge, passed away on June 3 at UMASS Memorial campus. She was a beloved wife to Lemuel Walker for 62 years and a cherished mother to Gregory Walker with his wife Brandy of Lisbon, CT, and Jeffery Walker with his partner Karen Shippee of Southbridge. Louise is also survived by her brother Bruce and his wife Bridget Gardner of Brattleboro, VT. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren, Jacob, Benjaman, Rebekah, Tristan, and great-grandson Jacob.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Katelin Walker in 2012.
Born in Billerica to Elmer and Dorothy (Ritchie) Gardner, Louise embraced life in the Sturbridge area. She dedicated herself to Elm Street Congregational Church as a faithful member, Deacon and choir member. Her affiliations extended to the Westport Yacht Club and the Disney Vacation Club.
Having owned and operated Running Stitches for 15 years and previously working at Rom's Restaurant. Her joys included visits to Disney, serene days at Cape Cod beaches, sailing adventures beside her husband Lem, and the company of her cherished dachshund dogs. Known for hosting memorable gatherings at her residence, Louise found solace in the simple pleasures; like savoring her morning coffee and her evening glass of Pinot Grigio wine.
A memorial service commemorating Louise's life will take place on June 15, at 11 AM at Elm Street Congregational Church, 61 Elm Street, Southbridge.
A calling hour will be held 10 to 11AM prior to the service, in the church.
The interment will remain private.
In the tapestry of our lives, Louise has woven threads of love and kindness that will endure through generations to come. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
