In Loving Memory of Lourenco Abreau Gomes De Pina, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lourenco Abreau Gomes De Pina.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He departed this life surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy rooted in strength, humility, and commitment to those he cherished most. In 1938, Lourenco was born and raised on the vibrant island of Fogo, Cabo Verde.
He was a man of many talents and boundless determination. In his early years, he was known for his work as a tailor in Cabo Verde, where family and friends would visit his shop to get the best custom handmade suits. In 1974, driven by hope and opportunity, he made the courageous decision to move his six children to Boston, Massachusetts, laying the foundation for generations to thrive. Lourenco then continued his work as a skilled tailor at Best Coat & Kennedy, then dedicated his time as bus driver for Boston Public Schools and continued working at The John Hancock Tower. He always committed to providing for his ever-growing family.
At the heart of Lourenco's life was his loving wife of 64 years; Maria Emily De Pina who stood beside him with grace, strength, and devotion. Their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love and partnership built on mutual respect, shared dreams, and the unbreakable bond of family. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and deep-rooted values that continue to guide their children today.
Lourenco was a proud father to eight children; Five daughters which include: Leonilda (Nilda) Centeio, Lourena (Lori) Lima, Lucelina (Lucy) Wilson, Leonigilda (leona) De Pina, & Lizabete (Betcy) Minard and three sons: Leonildo (Nildo) De Pina, Ludovino (Lou) De Pina and Leoziloide (Leo) De Pina. He was a cherished grandfather of eighteen grandchildren and a great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom he embraced with open arms and a generous heart. He leaves behind Thirteen siblings, sharing a lifelong bond with his five brothers and eight sisters.
His warmth, sense of humor, and guiding presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Lourenco's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and the strength of family. He leaves behind a rich legacy that will live on in the stories, traditions, and values passed down through each generation.
Lourenco was not just a father to his own children. He was a father figure to the entire neighborhood. With an open heart and steady hand, he helped raise countless individuals as if they were his own. Whether offering guidance, discipline, or simply a place to feel safe and welcomed, Lourenco became a pillar in his community. A man everyone could turn to for wisdom, support, and love. His presence left a lasting impact on generations far beyond his immediate family.
