CORDELE,GA - Lovaine Braziel Powell, age 103, of Cordele, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Wednesday January, 29, 2025, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens after the service. The family will visit with friends before the service at 11:00 a.m.
Lovaine was born in Pitts, Georgia to the late Hoyt Maxwell Braziel and the late Lois Herndon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Morgan Earl Powell; and her siblings: Christine Teams, Erdis Clayton, Euraline Brown, and Norma Jean Nutt. She spent over 35 years as a dedicated, devoted ministers wife. During her working years, she used her gifts to work in sales for Tupperware. Lovaine was one of the top saleswomen for Tupperware even earning several different cars from the company for her efforts. She was a member of Pitts Church of God and the Pitts Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her daughters: Sheryl P. McCoy and her husband Bishop Joe McCoy of Cordele, and Wanda P. Fitzgerald and her husband Allen Fitzgerald of Milledgeville, Ga.; her siblings: Mary Nell Titshaw of Hoschton, Ga., Ken Braziel and his wife Ann of Pitts, and Dwane Braziel and his wife Peggy of Cordele; her grandchildren: Kimberly McCoy, Jody McCoy (Lisa), Brandon Shell (Valerie), and Will Fitzgerald; and her great-grandchildren: Gavin McCoy, Mason McCoy, Lauren McCoy and Carson Johnston.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Crisp Regional Hospice, Help at Home, and especially Jackie Buckholts and Meshia Sellers for their exceptional care and support during their time of need.
