Lovetta Starkes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. on Sep. 18, 2025.
Mrs. Lovetta Starkes went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2025. She was born on March 16, 1958. The daughter of the late Edward and Moselle Williams and was raised in a large family of 13 siblings. Lovetta was married to the late James Starkes. She is survived by her 3 children, Michael, Richard and Elizabeth; and 7 grandchildren, Olivia, Justice, Lydia, Joel, Jarielis, Alyssa and Jesymia.
Lovetta, Starks-Williams was born in Orange Virginia, and man could she tell you a story about any and everything about her childhood or her life. Lovetta told the story of her life always as a mystery, a comedy, a drama, a movie. She believed in God with all of her heart, he is her truest of friends and his music could truly get her out of a bad mood or move her to tears with great rejoice. She was her family's strongest protector, their greatest guardian angel, and the glue that holds everything together. Her greatest accomplishments were being a nurse, a hairstylist, taking care of people who needed her help, and loving her family.
Lovetta was the type of person to always stand up for others and defend things that she believed in, she's the kindest, the most bubbly, the most gangster, the funniest, the bravest, and the most un-perfect perfect person there was, she was the real life embodiment of Sugar Mama from the proud family, and Madea. She loved doing her nails, putting on her make up, and fixing her hair up on the days that she had things to do. When she was home she enjoyed sandwiches, African movies, pink snowball cakes, as much fruit as she can possibly get, pineapple juice, breakfast sandwiches, and candy. She was a woman of many words, whether that be advice, a prayer, gossip, or advocating for somebody, she always said what was on her mind sometimes unfiltered. She always told everyone that when it was her time to walk alongside God that she wanted her life to be rejoiced instead of grieved. She lived a life of greatness, having loved and lived an adventure making sure to make every day count and to always make it a good day. She was a light that will be missed but an angel now that watches over us all bringing light to our darkest of days.
She was a phenomenal woman who will live in our hearts forever and her stories will go on through the people that she loved. She will not be forgotten!
" In the garden of memories, in the palace of dreams that is where you and I will meet"
"I will pray for you like I always do"
"You can't spell Lovetta without the word Love"
